Jacob Askew Killed in Head-On Collision on US-70

One Man Killed, Another Critically Injured in Wrong-Way Crash Near Farwell

Farwell, TX (November 15, 2025) — 22-year-old Jacob Askew died after a head-on collision on US-70 southeast of Farwell.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash happened around 8:55 p.m. on Highway 70.

DPS reports that Askew of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, was heading west on US-70 in a 2025 Dodge Ram 1500. At the same time, 26-year-old Jesus Eliso Espinoza Madrid was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes in a 2010 Ford F-150.

Askew tried to swerve right to avoid the oncoming truck but couldn’t prevent the crash. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died two days later on November 13.

Madrid was also transported to the hospital with severe injuries and remains in critical condition. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
