19-Year-Old Arrested After High-Speed DUI Crash on Santa Clarita Freeway

Santa Clarita, CA (September 4, 2026) — 19-year-old Jacob Marroquin faces a felony DUI charge after authorities say he drove at a high speed, crashed into a semi-truck, and seriously injured his passenger on Friday.

The California Highway Patrol received reports around 8:40 a.m. of a red Dodge Charger driving erratically at high speeds on northbound State Route 14 near Sand Canyon Road.

About six minutes later, witnesses reported that the Dodge had collided with a semi-truck south of Escondido Canyon Road. CHP officers arrived and found both vehicles blocking several freeway lanes.

Firefighters rescued a female passenger who became trapped inside the Dodge. She suffered major injuries and went to a nearby hospital for treatment. The semi-truck driver sustained minor injuries but did not require transportation to a hospital.

Officers who contacted the Dodge driver observed signs of impairment. Authorities identified him as 19-year-old Jacob Marroquin of North Hills and arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury.

The CHP continues to investigate the crash.
