Toyota Driver Jaime Garcia Dies in FM 1053 2-Vehicle Crash

49-Year-Old Man Killed in Early Morning Two-Vehicle Crash at FM 1053 in Crane County

Crane County, TX (January 24, 2026) – Jaime Garcia, 49, of Alvin, sustained fatal injuries following an FM 1053 2-vehicle crash Friday morning.

It was around 6:40 a.m. when a 1997 Toyota T100 traveling south on FM 1053 collided with a 2023 Ram 1500 that was traveling north and attempting to turn west onto FM 1233.

Rescuers declared the Toyota driver, Jaime Garcia, dead at the scene. Troopers said he was not wearing a seatbelt during the accident.

The 29-year-old man driving the Ram, Carlos Alberto Maldonado, of Crane, was not hurt. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Troopers are investigating.
