68-Year-Old Yucca Valley Man Charged with Murder After Fatal DUI Crash on Halloween
Yucca Valley, CA (November 7, 2025) — 69-year-old James Tappon of Yucca Valley tragically lost his life in horrific crash on Yucca Mesa Road Halloween afternoon.
According to authorities, the fatal DUI crash happened around 3 p.m. near Yucca Mesa Road and Sunflower Drive.
Reports say that authorities have charged 68-year-old Forrest Stibbens of Yucca Valley with murder following the deadly DUI collision.
Investigators say that Stibbens was reportedly driving an SUV that crossed over the double yellow line and collided head-on with a Ford Fiesta. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
The driver of the Ford Fiesta, identified as Tappon, died at the scene. Stibbens suffered major injuries and was later arrested after officers determined he was driving under the influence.
On Wednesday, Stibbens pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, vehicular manslaughter, and DUI causing injury.
