James Nielsen Arrested in DUI Crash on SR 53

Clearlake, CA (July 21, 2022) – On July 20, James Torrey Jr, 43, of Clearlake, died while officers arrested James Nielsen, 27, also of Clearlake, in a DUI pedestrian accident on State Route 53.

It was about 1 a.m. when the collision took place north of Dam Road.

When the authorities arrived at the scene, they located a Toyota Tacoma occupied by James Nielsen and a pedestrian, James Torrey Jr.

Responding officers say James Torrey Jr incurred major injuries and lost his life at the scene.

On the other hand, the Toyota driver, James Nielsen sustained minor injuries.
