Jasper Bunny Killed in Horrific Crash on NM 550 [Rio Arriba County, NM]

Rio Arriba County, NM (April 1, 2026) — 55-year-old Jasper Bunny of Farmington died after a tragic crash on NM 550 in Rio Arriba County.

According to authorities, Crescencio Castro Baldazo allegedly fled the scene after colliding with a commercial vehicle on New Mexico Highway 550 near milepost 106. The crash left Bunny critically injured. Emergency responders airlifted him to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities confirmed that Baldazo had previously been reported by his employer for suspected impaired driving while operating a company vehicle. He was apprehended near milepost 103 by responding officers and citizens at the scene.

Baldazo now faces multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle while under the influence, leaving the scene causing death or great bodily harm, open container, failure to maintain traffic lane, and careless driving. He was booked into the Rio Arriba Detention Center.
