Javier Tamayo Struck and Killed in Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (February 17, 2026) – Sunday night, Javier Tamayo, 50, died in a hit-and-run crash on South Western Avenue and West 82nd Street.

The incident happened at 9:30 p.m. on South Western Avenue and West 82nd Street.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the scene and learned the driver was traveling north on Western Avenue when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking west on West 82nd Street, an LAPD spokesperson revealed.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The victim’s name, age, and gender were later revealed. 50-year-old Javier Tamayo was identified as the deceased.

Police said the driver did not stop and fled the area.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the fatal crash.
