Three Hurt in High-Speed Rear-End Crash on Interstate 90 East of Ritzville

Ritzville, WA (November 16, 2025) — 51-year-old Jeremy Zwiefel of Olympia and 2 others were hurt after a high-speed rear-end crash on Interstate 90 Thursday evening.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the frightening crash happened around 8:20 p.m. about 12 miles east of Ritzville.

Authorities are searching for the driver who fled after the scene. Reports say that a speeding sedan slammed into the back of a station wagon driven by Zwiefel.

Zwiefel, along with his passengers — 49-year-old Heather J. Tschaekofske of Olympia and a 15-year-old boy — suffered injuries and were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Troopers said both vehicles spun multiple times, and Zwiefel’s station wagon rolled several times before coming to a stop.

The driver of the sedan ran from the scene, and witnesses were unable to provide a description. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
