Phoenix, AZ (April 21, 2025) – 34-year-old Jessica Bell of Phoenix died in a DUI crash on Loop 202 Red Mountain.

A crash on Loop 202 Red Mountain in Phoenix left one woman dead and led authorities to charge the driver with a criminal offense.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that the collision occurred just before 2 a.m., when an SUV struck a guardrail near the 32nd Street off-ramp. 

Emergency responders transported both the driver and a female passenger to the hospital. 

While the driver sustained only minor injuries, the passenger, identified as 34-year-old Jessica Bell of Phoenix, tragically died from her injuries.

According to DPS, they suspect the driver was impaired at the time of the crash and have filed a manslaughter charge against them.

The crash prompted authorities to temporarily close parts of the highway. 

Officials reopened the roadway shortly after 7 a.m., though traffic delays continued as congestion cleared. 

The investigation into the crash remains active.
