Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Crash on State Highway 107 in La Blanca

La Blanca, TX (November 27, 2025) — A deadly hit-and-run collision on SH107 claimed the life of 76-year-old Joe Davila Jr. Monday afternoon.

According to authorities, the fatal crash happened around 5:16 p.m. near the busy intersection along State Highway 107.

Reports say that on Monday Davila Jr. was taking out the trash, when a westbound gray Nissan Rogue driven by 33-year-old Humberto Isaac Garza veered off the roadway, drove onto the shoulder and into a bar ditch, and struck Davila. Garza reportedly fled the scene.

Authorities arrested Garza moments later after a witness followed him to a nearby business. The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office set his bail at $400,000 on charges that include intoxication manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
