John Miller Involved in Shocking Crash on Canyon Fields Drive [Richmond, TX]

Richmond, TX (June 11, 2025) – The Fort Bend County Sheriff‘s Office is investigating a collision in Richmond where a Brookshire police captain, John Miller, reportedly struck and injured a 12-year-old on an electric scooter.

The incident occurred shortly after 8:45 p.m. last Tuesday at the intersection of Canyon Fields Drive and Idlewood Crossing within a gated community.

Reports say that Captain Miller was driving a city-issued vehicle, not a marked patrol car, at the time.

Paramedics transported the boy to a hospital with minor injuries, described as abrasions.

Chief James Hines of the Brookshire Police Department confirmed Miller’s involvement and stated that Miller showed no signs of intoxication at the scene and volunteered for a blood sample, with results pending.

Authorities have not arrested or charged Miller.

The Brookshire Police Department has also launched an Internal Affairs Investigation into the incident.
