Lubbock, TX (April 28, 2026) — An 18-year-old man, Jonathan Garcia, died days after suffering critical injuries in a golf cart accident on 2nd Street in Lubbock.

Emergency crews responded around 9 p.m. on April 21 near 2nd Street and Avenue K, where Garcia had fallen from a moving golf cart. Paramedics transported him to University Medical Center for treatment, but he later succumbed to his injuries on April 23.

Investigators determined Garcia had been riding as a passenger when the golf cart was traveling north on Avenue K. As the vehicle turned onto 2nd Street, he fell from the cart. The driver and another passenger were not injured.
