Teen Driver Erick Holguin Killed in High-Speed Crash on Montana Avenue

El Paso, TX (April 27, 2026) — 17-year-old passenger, Jonathan Reyes, was injured, and Erick Holguin, an 18-year-old from El Paso, lost his life following a high-speed crash early Sunday morning along Montana Avenue.

The collision happened around 3:25 a.m. in the 12200 block of Montana. Investigators reported that Holguin was driving a Chevrolet Camaro westbound at a high rate of speed when he struck a concrete barrier and curb. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn.

Emergency crews transported Holguin and Reyes, to a hospital with serious injuries. Despite medical efforts, Holguin later died from his injuries.

Reyes survived the crash but sustained injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, which marked another tragic loss on El Paso roadways this year.
