Tyler Pedestrian Killed in Crash on FM 14

Smith County, TX (August 26, 2026) — 42-year-old Jorge Garcia-Jimenez of Tyler died Monday morning after a pickup truck struck him while he was walking along FM 14 in Smith County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the victim as Jorge Luis Garcia-Jimenez. Authorities said the crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. near County Road 328.

According to the preliminary report, 32-year-old Christopher Wilson of Tyler was driving a Dodge pickup northbound on FM 14 when he moved into the center lane to pass a vehicle turning right. The pickup then struck Garcia-Jimenez, who was walking in the center turn lane.

Authorities pronounced Garcia-Jimenez dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
