Jorge Guzman-Acosta Dies in Horrific Crash on Harrison Road

24-Year-Old Passenger Injured in Southeast Tucson Deadly Crash

Tucson, AZ (May 26, 2025) — 21-year-old Jorge Guzman-Acosta died, and a woman suffered serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday on Tucson’s southeast side, according to police.

Investigators identified the driver as Jorge Efrain Guzman-Acosta. Authorities said he was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Sonic northbound on South Harrison Road around 6:30 a.m. when the vehicle entered the bike lane near East 33rd Street, struck a curb, and crashed into a light pole.

Guzman-Acosta died at the scene.

A 24-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police believe speed contributed to the collision, noting the vehicle was traveling faster than the posted 40 mph limit. Investigators also said neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
