Chula Vista, CA (July 3, 2025) Authorities are investigating a horrific crash on Interstate 805 that led to the death of 53-year-old Jorge Uribe of Chula Vista, and injuries to several people.

According to authorities, the frightening incident happened around 8 p.m. near Telegraph Canyon Road.

Reports say that authorities have charged a 22-year-old San Diego man with murder after he allegedly caused a deadly collision involving a motorcyclist on Interstate 805 in Chula Vista.

Investigators said Ulysses Jimenez drove his 2023 Tesla Model Y in the carpool lane and rear-ended a 2025 BMW motorcycle. The impact threw the rider, Jorge Uribe of Chula Vista, onto the roadway. He died at the scene.

After the initial collision, Jimenez’s Tesla hit a 2012 Ram 1500 pickup truck, injuring the driver and five passengers. Paramedics transported all six to local hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

Jimenez reportedly fled the scene but was arrested nearby shortly after the incident. Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the alleged assault.
