45-Year-Old Muleshoe Man Killed in Head-On Crash on State Highway 214 in Parmer County

Parmer County, TX (March 16, 2026) — A tragic head-on collision early Friday morning in Parmer County claimed the life of 45-year-old Jose Cal Cucul of Muleshoe.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 6 a.m. along State Highway 214.

Reports say that Cucul was traveling north in a Nissan Altima when a southbound Honda Civic suddenly crossed into the northbound lanes.

The Civic collided nearly head-on with Cucul’s vehicle, causing severe damage. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Cucul suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the location.

Authorities identified the other driver as 24-year-old Saul Rodriguez-Cruz of Friona. Paramedics transported him to Muleshoe Area Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
