Avenal Man Killed in Crash on Highway 46 in Wasco

Wasco, CA (September 13, 2026) — Authorities identified Jose Camacho, 55, of Avenal, as the man who died in a crash on Highway 46 near Wildwood Road.

The California Highway Patrol said the collision happened around 6:16 a.m. on September 9. Camacho was driving a 2006 Chevrolet eastbound on Highway 46 when a westbound 2026 Ford entered his path at the intersection and struck the side of his vehicle.

Investigators said the 43-year-old Ford driver failed to yield before turning into the Chevrolet’s path.

Camacho died at the scene. CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
