Jose Gallegos Dead After Crash at 31st Avenue in Laveen

Laveen, AZ (August 28, 2025) –  Phoenix police have identified the man who died in a two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning as 28-year-old Jose Gallegos.

The collision occurred around 3 a.m. at the intersection of 31st Avenue and Southern Avenue. 

According to investigators, Gallegos was driving southbound on 31st Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop sign, causing a collision with another vehicle.

Emergency responders transported both drivers to the hospital. Gallegos later succumbed to his injuries, while the other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police do not believe impairment played a role in the crash.

Authorities closed the intersection for several hours to conduct a thorough investigation. 

The incident remains under review.
