Ricardo Antonio Avila Arrested in Cathedral City Deadly DUI Crash

Cathedral City, CA (February 23, 2026) – Jose Guevara, a 65-year-old Bell man, was killed in an I-10 crash Saturday morning.

It was past 6 a.m. when the deadly vehicle crash happened on the eastbound freeway, west of Bob Hope Drive.

Reportedly, a Toyota, driven by Jose Guevara, was eastbound when a Lexus onto its path.

The Toyota overturned and was submerged in water near the roadway.

Immediately, rescuers rushed Guevara to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he died at 7:13 a.m.

Moreover, five other people were also transported, while the Lexus driver, identified as Ricardo Antonio Avila, was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence.
