Jose Hernandez Dies in FM 4 Tragic Accident [Hood County, TX]

Hood County, TX (May 26, 2025) – 19-year-old Jose Hernandez of Mineral Wells was killed in a horrific accident on FM 4.

According to authorities, the tragic incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on FM 4 Saturday night.

Reports say that a 19-year-old passenger died, and five others sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision in Hood County.

Authorities say that he crash occurred when a northbound 2004 Ford Explorer lost control while navigating a curve. The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a 2024 Kia Telluride.

Officials say that the impact struck the Explorer’s passenger side, fatally injuring Hernandez, who was not wearing a seatbelt.

Emergency responders transported two 18-year-old passengers from the Explorer to a hospital in Fort Worth.

Medical personnel also hospitalized two 34-year-old adults and a 2-year-old child from Lubbock who were riding in the Kia. The Texas Department of Public Safety is actively investigating the cause of the crash.
