Los Angeles, CA (May 11, 2025) — 50-year-old Jose Martinez Diaz De Leon died after a crash early Sunday morning on the southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway in North Hollywood.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 2:40 a.m. near the Ventura (101) Freeway interchange.

Authorities identified the victim as De Leon. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Following the crash, officials issued a Sigalert that shut down all southbound lanes of the 170 Freeway shortly after 3:00 a.m. Crews reopened the freeway around 7:02 a.m.

Investigators have not released additional details about what led to the collision.
