Injuries Reported in Fatal Crash Involving Rideshare Vehicle in Fresno County

Fresno County, CA (December 18, 2025) — Several people wee hurt and 20-year-old Jose Reyes tragically lost hi life after a suspected DUI crash on Cherry Avenue early Sunday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Cherry and American avenues.

Reports say that a rideshare driver carrying three passengers was traveling east on American Avenue when a Chevrolet driven by Reyes struck the vehicle as it entered the intersection.

The impact caused the rideshare vehicle to spin. Reyes’ car continued north, broke through a chain-link fence, and came to rest about 100 feet from the crash site. First responders found Reyes unresponsive, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The rideshare driver and all three passengers suffered injuries and were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

CHP continues to investigate the crash, including whether impairment played a role.
