CHICO, CA (June 8, 2023) – Tuesday night, Joshua Payan died in a horrific vehicle crash on East Avenue and Cohasset Road.

The incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of East Avenue and Cohasset Road.

According to reports, an officer spotted a stolen blue Dodge Sedan on East Avenue and Mariposa Avenue. Then, the driver fled and the officer didn’t pursue the vehicle due to the wet roads.

Then, a mile to the west of East Avenue and Cohasset Road, the blue Dodge failed to yield at a red light. As a result, it struck a silver Hyundai.

After the crash, the driver of the stolen blue car succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, responders transported the driver of the silver car to the hospital with serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identities of the parties involved due to pending family notification.

The road has reopened by 3:00 a.m.
