Joshuia Harness Dies in Tragic 2-Vehicle Collision on Buffalo Gap Road [Abilene, TX]

Motorcyclist Dies After Collision with SUV on Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene

Abilene, TX (November 12, 2024) On Monday morning, 37-year-old Joshuia Harness died after a horrific 2-vehicle collision on Buffalo Gap Road.

According to Abilene police, the fatal incident happened around Sunday afternoon in the 4400 block of Buffalo Gap Road, south of the Mall of Abilene.

Reports say that motorcyclist succumbed to injuries sustained in a crash with an SUV.

According to Abilene Police, a 71-year-old woman driving a 2013 Ford Edge attempted to turn left into a private driveway on the west side of the road while traveling northbound. At the same time, Harness was riding his 2007 Harley Davidson Softail southbound on Buffalo Gap Road when he collided with the SUV.

Harness suffered life-threatening injuries and was initially taken to Hendrick Medical Center in critical condition. He was later airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he died early Monday morning, November 11.

This incident marks the third motorcycle fatality in Abilene in 2024, contributing to a total of 12 fatal motor vehicle collisions this year.

The Abilene Police Department’s Traffic Division is continuing to investigate the crash, though preliminary findings indicate that intoxication was not a factor.
