Andrea Margarita Villalta Arrested for DUI After Fatal Crash on I-215 in Murrieta

Murrieta, CA (November 4, 2025) — 30-year-old Joya Brandy of Riverside lost her life after a solo-car crash on Interstate 215 early Saturday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened on I-215 around 1:30 a.m.

Authorities arrested 28-year-old Andrea Margarita Villalta of Los Angeles, who is suspected of driving under the influence after the fatal single-vehicle crash.

Reports say that Villalta was driving a 2022 Toyota Prius, when she veered onto the right shoulder and slammed into a tree at high speed. The impact killed Brandy and left three other passengers with serious injuries.

Emergency responders pronounced Brandy dead at the scene, while the other passengers—a 25-year-old woman from Los Angeles, a 28-year-old woman from Los Angeles, and a 28-year-old man from San Diego—were transported to a trauma center in serious condition.

Investigators determined Villalta was intoxicated at the time of the crash. After receiving treatment for minor injuries, she was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, felony DUI, and DUI causing injury. She was later released after posting a $60,000 bond.
