Apple Valley Man Killed in Head-On Crash on Bear Valley Road

Apple Valley, CA (August 9, 2026) — 28-year-old Juan Garcia of Apple Valley died Friday evening after a head-on collision on Bear Valley Road, while two children suffered injuries.

The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on August 7 near Deep Creek Road. Authorities said a 36-year-old Barstow man was driving a Land Rover westbound when the SUV crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a Chevrolet Silverado head-on.

The Silverado driver, identified as 28-year-old Juan P. Garcia of Apple Valley, died at the scene. Two children riding with him went to a hospital and remained in stable condition.

The Land Rover driver also received medical treatment after staying at the scene. Authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. The sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate.
