Juan Jose Rodriguez Killed in Tragic Head-On Crash on Highway 67 [Presidio County, TX]

Presidio County, TX (October 13, 2025) — Refujio Castillo and his passenger, Juan Jose Rodriguez lost their lives and three others were injured, including one critically, following a head-on crash on Highway 67 north of Presidio.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 4:20 p.m. when a southbound Chevrolet Avalanche veered into the northbound lane and collided with a GMC Sierra pickup.

Authorities confirmed that the Avalanche’s driver, 59-year-old Castillo, and his passenger, 82-year-old Rodriguez — both from Pecos, Texas — died at the scene.

A woman riding in the GMC suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Odessa. Two additional passengers in the Avalanche were taken to a Big Bend area hospital and were reported to be in stable condition.

The Texas DPS is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
