Juan Manuel Garcia Seriously Hurt in Riverbank Drive Pedestrian Crash [Laredo, TX]

Laredo, TX (October 03, 2025) — A 55-year-old man, identified as Juan Manuel Garcia, is fighting for his life after a vehicle struck him early Thursday morning in the Mines Road area.

Police said the crash happened around 6 a.m. near the intersection of Riverbank Drive and Logistics Street. Garcia was reportedly talking with another truck driver before he unexpectedly stepped into the roadway.

An 18-year-old man driving a 2006 gray Mazda 3 hit Garcia as he crossed the road. The driver stopped immediately, called 911, and showed no signs of impairment.

First responders found Garcia unconscious but still breathing. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio for advanced treatment.

Investigators believe low visibility in the dark, early morning hours may have contributed to the collision. The Laredo Police Department’s Crash Team is continuing the investigation.
