Juan Mejia Calvillo Jr. Dies in Horrific Accident on Mountain View Road [Desert Hot Springs, CA]

Desert Hot Springs, CA (December 7, 2025) — A tragic crash in unincorporated Desert Hot Springs claimed the life of 20-year-old resident Juan Mejia Calvillo Jr. on Friday evening.

Emergency crews responded around 6:20 p.m. to the area of Mountain View Road and Dillon Road.

Authorities closed Mountain View Road from Louisan Road to the entrance of Mountain View Mobile Home Park for several hours while they investigated.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver attempted to pass a slower vehicle over solid double yellow lines and struck Calvillo, who was riding a skateboard. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver stayed at the location and is cooperating with investigators. CHP noted that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the Desert Hot Springs crash.
