Forney Woman Dies, Infant Injured in Kaufman County Crash

Kaufman County, TX (August 31, 2026) — On Saturday morning, a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 80 in Kaufman County killed 39-year-old Juana Ojeda and seriously injured an infant.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and Highway Patrol responded to the crash near the U.S. 80 exit to FM 460 around 4:25 a.m. Investigators determined that an eastbound Infiniti traveling in the exit lane made an unsafe lane change and struck an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado in the right lane.

The impact sent the Silverado into a concrete barrier, causing it to overturn and land on its roof. The Infiniti continued east before hitting another barrier.

The Silverado driver, Juana Berenice Chavez Ojeda, was taken to a hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead. An 8-month-old infant also went to a hospital with suspected serious injuries. The Infiniti driver and two passengers escaped injury.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
