Oakland, CA (January 9, 2026) – Juanetta Jones of Oakland was critically injured following a hit-and-run crash on 85th Avenue early Tuesday morning.

The Oakland hit-and-run crash happened at 1 a.m. on December 30 at the intersection with International Boulevard.

The victim’s daughter, Cenea Cummings, said her mother was a passenger in a silver car that was driven by her aunt. 

The vehicle had the right of way and was crossing the intersection on a green light when it was hit an SUV whose driver fled the scene.

Jones sustained a broken neck and could not move below her shoulders. She stays in the hospital in critical condition. 

Cummings said her mother can’t talk and on a breathing tube. Their family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover the victim’s medical expenses and recovery costs.
