San Ramon Man Dies After SUV and Box Truck Crash on Highway 92 in Hayward
Hayward, CA (July 25, 2026) — 29-year-old Justin Matthews of San Ramon died after his SUV collided with a box truck Tuesday afternoon on Highway 92 in Hayward, authorities said.
The crash happened around 3:54 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Highway 92, just east of Industrial Boulevard near the approach to the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified the victim as Justin Matthews, who was driving a Toyota 4Runner towing a U-Haul trailer. Emergency responders transported Matthews to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the box truck was not injured and remained at the scene following the collision.
California Highway Patrol investigators continue to examine the cause of the crash. Officials said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have contributed to the incident. Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to contact the Hayward CHP office.
Sweet Lawyers extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Justin Matthews. We hope they find comfort, strength, and peace as they navigate this difficult time and honor his memory.
Finding Strength and Justice After a Tragic Loss
Losing someone you love in a sudden accident is one of life’s most painful experiences. Beyond the heartbreak, families are often left facing emotional, practical, and financial challenges — from medical bills and funeral costs to the loss of companionship and financial support.
In times like these, it’s important to know that you have options. Filing a wrongful death claim can help bring justice to your loved one’s memory and provide much-needed financial support for those left behind.
A wrongful death claim can help families recover compensation for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Medical costs from the victim’s final care
- Lost income and future financial support
- Emotional suffering and loss of companionship
This legal process is about more than money — it’s about accountability. Whether the crash was caused by reckless driving, intoxication, or negligence, holding the at-fault party responsible helps ensure that similar tragedies are less likely to happen again.
While no legal action can ever replace the person you’ve lost, seeking justice can bring a sense of closure and peace to grieving families. It’s one way to honor your loved one’s life and legacy.
