Kayden Norris Arrested in Suspected DUI Crash on Crestline Street [Spokane, WA]

Spokane Man Accused of DUI After Crashing Into STA Bus, Injuring Two

Spokane, WA (May 9, 2025) — Authorities arrested 23-year-old Kayden Norris of Spokane after authorities said he drove drunk and crashed into a Spokane Transit Authority bus Wednesday night, injuring his passenger and the bus driver.

According to reports, the crash happened shortly after 9 p.m. at the intersection of Crestline Street and Bruce Avenue in northeast Spokane. Investigators said Kayden Norris was driving a white Honda CR-V west on Bruce Avenue when he allegedly ran a stop sign and slammed into the southbound STA bus.

Police said Norris registered a preliminary breath test reading of 0.22, nearly three times Washington’s legal alcohol limit.

The collision seriously injured Norris’ passenger, who suffered a broken femur and was transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. The bus driver also went to the hospital with injuries but was later released. Another passenger aboard the bus reported minor knee pain and declined medical treatment.

Witnesses told police Norris appeared to be speeding before the crash, with one estimating the SUV was traveling more than 50 mph. Investigators also found an open alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle.

Court documents stated Norris admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the day and using marijuana that morning. Officers reported he showed signs of impairment at the scene.

The crash caused major damage to both vehicles, including a shattered windshield on the bus. STA officials estimated repair costs at around $50,000.

Norris was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of felony vehicular assault. The investigation remains ongoing.

Traffic collisions can happen anytime, but their impact lasts a lifetime. Stay alert, avoid distractions, and never drive under the influence. Always wear your seatbelt, obey speed limits, and be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists. Keep a safe distance between vehicles and adjust your speed for road conditions.

Never drive under the influence. Impaired driving endangers lives and leads to devastating consequences. Always choose a sober ride—your decision can save lives.
