Kayden Schwartz Dies in Horrific Hit-and-Run Crash on FM 1846 [San Benito, TX]

San Benito, TX (February 9, 2025) – 15-year-old Kayden Schwartz of Harlingen tragically lost his life in a horrific hit-and-run Crash on FM 1846.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the tragic incident happened at about 3:03 a.m. near County Road 578.

Reports say that a vehicle struck a bicyclist and fled the scene.

Investigators determined that Schwartz was riding a bicycle northbound on FM 1846 when a northbound vehicle hit him from behind. The driver did not stop to provide aid, and Schwartz tragically died at the scene.

Authorities are investigating the fatal hit-and-run in San Benito.

DPS reports that the suspect’s vehicle is possibly a Ford with chrome trimming and front-right damage. Officials urge anyone with information about the vehicle or driver to contact the DPS office at (956) 565-7600.
