Kerjerrion Demarko Reese Hurt in Deadly Crash on Highway 149 [Gregg County, TX]

Gregg County, TX (April 2, 2026) — On Monday evening, 57-year-old Kerjerrion Demarko Reese of Longview was hurt after a fatal crash on State Highway 149.

According to authorities, 31-year-old Braxton Meshell of Henderson, also lost his life following the crash.

Authorities reported that Meshell was driving southbound around 6:13 p.m. when he approached a vehicle slowing to make a left turn into a private driveway. In an effort to avoid hitting the vehicle from behind, Meshell swerved into the northbound lane, where he collided with an oncoming pickup truck.

The impact proved fatal, and Meshell died at the scene. The driver of the pickup, identified as Reese, sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital in Tyler for treatment.

Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
