67-Year-Old Kevin Bell Arrested in Mount Diablo Boulevard Crash [Lafayette, CA]

Lafayette, CA (August 24, 2025) — Authorities arrested 67-year-old Kevin Bell of Walnut Creek after the Mount Diablo Boulevard Crash Friday afternoon.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, the horrific crash happened around 2:18 p.m. on the 3600 block of Mount Diablo Boulevard.

Reports say that Bell crashed into the back of an LPD patrol car while allegedly driving under the influence.

Authorities say that the impact caused major damage to Bell’s vehicle and the patrol car, which then struck another vehicle ahead. A small fire sparked in the trunk of the police car but was quickly put out.

Paramedics transported Bell and two Lafayette police officers to the hospital. All three received treatment and were later released.

Deputies booked Bell into the Martinez Detention Facility on felony DUI charges, including driving under the influence causing injury and driving with a blood alcohol level above 0.08%. His bail was set at $200,000.
