Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Interstate 35 in New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS, TX (September 10, 2026)— A 22-year-old man died in a crash on Interstate 35 Wednesday night after he was thrown from his motorcycle and struck by several vehicles in New Braunfels.

New Braunfels police and fire crews responded at approximately 10:30 p.m. to the 2400 block of I-35 South, along the southbound main lanes near the Schmidt Avenue overpass, following reports of a motorcycle crash.

According to preliminary information from authorities, the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Investigators said the rider was thrown from his motorcycle before several vehicles struck him.

Emergency personnel pronounced the 22-year-old man dead at the scene. Authorities said officials have notified his next of kin.

The fatal crash prompted officials to close that section of southbound Interstate 35 for approximately five and a half hours while investigators examined the scene and gathered evidence.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the motorcycle crash and the subsequent collisions involving other vehicles.

At this stage of the investigation, officials said they do not expect criminal charges to be filed.

Authorities have not released additional details about the sequence of events leading to the motorcyclist being thrown from his bike or identified any other factors that may have contributed to the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Sweet Lawyers extends our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the deceased. May the bereaved find solace and strength in this extremely trying time.

Sweet Lawyers Supports Families After Fatal Motorcycle Accidents

When a loved one is suddenly lost in a devastating roadway collision, families deserve compassionate support and clear information while they cope with grief and unanswered questions.

Losing a loved one in a motorcycle accident can be devastating, especially when the loss happens without warning. Families may suddenly find themselves facing grief, funeral arrangements, financial concerns, and questions about how the collision occurred.

When a crash involves multiple vehicles, understanding the complete sequence of events can become even more complicated.

At Sweet Lawyers, we understand that no legal process can replace a loved one. Families coping with a fatal motorcycle collision deserve patience, respect, and compassionate communication as they begin navigating the difficult period that follows.

Multi-vehicle crashes may require investigators to carefully reconstruct what happened before, during, and after the initial impact.

Authorities may review roadway evidence, vehicle damage, witness statements, surveillance or traffic camera footage, lighting conditions, speed information, and other available records.

In some cases, investigators may also examine whether roadway conditions or the actions of multiple motorists contributed to the sequence of events.

Even when authorities do not anticipate criminal charges, families may still have questions about separate civil processes.

Criminal and civil matters involve different standards and considerations, and every situation depends on its particular facts and applicable law.

A thorough review of the available evidence can help families better understand the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision.

Families may also find it helpful to preserve police reports, photographs, witness information, insurance correspondence, funeral expenses, and other records connected to the incident.

Keeping these materials organized can be valuable as additional information becomes available.

Sweet Lawyers has experience assisting families affected by fatal traffic collisions, including motorcycle and multi-vehicle accidents.

Our team is committed to providing clear communication while treating grieving families with the dignity and sensitivity they deserve.

If your family has lost a loved one in a motorcycle or other serious traffic accident, you can learn more about the support available through Sweet Lawyers.
