Police Search for the Suspect After Hit-And-Run Crash on Missouri Highway 58 in Belton

Belton, Mo (April 18, 2025) – A 39-year-old man from Grandview died in a hit-and-run crash on Missouri Highway 58.

Law enforcement officials are actively searching for the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on a Missouri highway west of Belton.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened just before 4:45 a.m. on Friday, April 18. 

Emergency crews responded to reports of a deadly crash near Holmes Road and Missouri Highway 58.

When first responders arrived, they discovered that a northbound vehicle towing a trailer had lost control and crossed the centerline. 

The vehicle struck a southbound 2003 Toyota Corolla head-on. A 39-year-old man from Grandview had been driving the Corolla.

The force of the crash pushed the Toyota off the right side of the road. Meanwhile, the driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene.

Emergency personnel pronounced the Grandview man dead at the scene. Officials have not yet confirmed whether he had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Investigators reported that the Toyota was completely destroyed in the crash. As of now, the driver who fled the scene remains unidentified and at large. 

Authorities have not released any additional details.
