Off-Duty Lakeview Officer Dies in Motorcycle Crash on I-45 Feeder Road

Dickinson, TX (July 16, 2025) – Off-duty Lakeview police officer Larry Blacksmith tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on the I-45 feeder road.

According to authorities, the fatal crash happened On Tuesday near FM 517.

Authorities from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Officer Blacksmith was riding his personal motorcycle to work while in uniform when another vehicle struck him.

Reports say that the incident happened as Officer Blacksmith traveled along the feeder road of the Gulf Freeway. Despite being off duty, he was in full uniform en route to begin his shift. The collision proved fatal, and responding units later confirmed his death at the scene.

Investigators have not identified any signs of criminal activity related to the crash, and no charges have been filed as of now. The case remains under active investigation.
