74-Year-Old Larry Schneider Dead After Crash on Highway 6 and 50 in Grand Junction

Grand Junction, CO (February 5, 2026) – A 74-year-old Larry Schneider died Monday afternoon following a fatal head-on crash on Highway 6 and 50 near Patterson Road in Grand Junction, authorities confirmed.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Grand Junction resident Larry Schneider. 

Officials said Schneider sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

An autopsy later confirmed that he died from injuries related to the collision.

The Grand Junction Police Department responded to the crash at approximately 5 p.m., west of the intersection of 24 Road and Highway 6 and 50. 

Investigators determined that a driver traveling eastbound veered into oncoming traffic, causing the head-on collision.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. 

The Grand Junction Fire Department and the Colorado State Patrol also assisted at the scene. 

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
