Colusa County, CA (September 13, 2026) — Lars Ewing, 49, of Lakeport, a former Lake County public works director, died Friday in a head-on crash on Highway 20 in Colusa County.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 8 a.m. on westbound Highway 20, east of Lone Star Road. Ewing was driving a 1995 Honda when it crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck an oncoming vehicle.

Both vehicles blocked the highway and caught fire. Ewing died in the crash, while the other driver suffered moderate injuries.
