Le’anna Janee Lonnie Sterling Killed in Tragic Crash on 8th Street [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (August 29, 2025) On Monday, a one-month-old baby, identified as Le’anna Janee Lonnie Sterling of Bakersfield, died following a crash at the intersection of 8th Street and T Street.

According to Bakersfield police, the collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. when a woman driving a silver sedan northbound on T Street collided with a red pickup truck traveling west on 8th Street.

Reports say that the infant, who was a passenger in the sedan, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital. She passed away the next day at Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera.

Both drivers declined medical aid at the scene and cooperated with police. Investigators confirmed that alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash.

Authorities noted that the intersection where the crash occurred has stop signs controlling only the northbound and southbound lanes.
