Santa Maria Woman Dies After Pickup Truck Rolls Down Embankment Near Orcutt

Santa Maria, CA (September 4, 2026) — 39-year-old Leidis Litez-Perez of Santa Maria died after a single-vehicle crash west of Orcutt late last week.

Authorities identified the victim as Litez-Perez. The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Friday on the 5000 block of Black Road near Highway 1.

Emergency crews from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Santa Maria Fire Department, and California Highway Patrol responded after a Ford F-150 left the roadway and rolled down an embankment. The truck came to rest about 125 feet from the road and was reportedly difficult to see from the roadway.

Litez-Perez and the driver, identified as 39-year-old Gabriel Martinez of Lompoc, were ejected from the pickup. Litez-Perez died at the scene, while Martinez was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities do not currently suspect drugs or alcohol played a role.
