Leslie Gaytan Mendivil Dies in Horrific 2-Car Crash on Sunrise Drive [Tucson, AZ]

2 People Hurt After Deadly Head-On Collision on Sunrise Drive in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (June 20, 2025) — A head-on crash in Tucson on June 19 left one 27-year-old Leslie Gaytan Mendivil and injured two others.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, say that Mendivil was driving westbound on Sunrise Drive around 12:30 p.m. when her vehicle crossed into the opposite lane near North Via Zarzosa and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Emergency responders transported Mendivil to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Two occupants in the other vehicle also suffered injuries, though officials said their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Investigators found no signs of impairment. However, they believe distraction and driver inattention likely contributed to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
