Pedestrian Liborio Garcia Dead in Midland Drive Hit-and-Run Crash [Midland, TX]

Midland, TX (February 12, 2026) – 67-year-old Liborio Garcia of Midland was killed in a Midland Drive hit-and-run crash Tuesday evening.

It was just minutes before 7 p.m. when the deadly crash happened near Dengar Avenue.

Responding officers found Garcia dead in the northbound lanes of Midland Drive.

Moreover, the authorities later found a 2021 Ford Escape with significant front-end damage in the parking lot of the Summer Hill Apartments.

Troopers were informed that two people got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

Police also located the suspect driver, 23-year-old Jordan McLaughlin, at a nearby apartment.

Investigators determined that Garcia was crossing Midland Drive when he was hit by the northbound Ford Escape.

McLaughlin admitted that he was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision and that he left the scene without rendering aid.

Officers arrested McLaughlin and booked him into the Midland County Detention Center on a charge of collision involving death.
