Truck Driver Injured in Fatal Collision on Highway 83

Zavala County, TX (April 25, 2026) — Louis Perez III, 21, and Isaiah Louis Peres, 19, both from Devine, tragically lost their lives, while a driver was hurt in a crash early Wednesday morning along U.S. Highway 83 in Zavala County.

Perez drove a Chevrolet northbound when the vehicle veered into the opposite lane. It then collided with a southbound semitrailer, causing a devastating impact. Both Perez and his passenger, Peres, died at the scene.

First responders arrived shortly after the crash, which occurred a few miles south of La Pryor. The driver of the semitrailer sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital in Uvalde, where he later received treatment and was released.

Authorities noted that traffic rerouting after the initial crash led to a secondary collision along FM 1025 later that morning, where one driver suffered serious injuries.
