Luis Adrian Morales-Pacheco Dead in Collision on Park Lantern [Dana Point, CA]

Dana Point, CA (November 19, 2025) –  Luis Adrian Morales-Pacheco, 13, of San Juan Capistrano, was killed in a collision on Park Lantern Tuesday morning.

It was past 8 a.m. when the deadly hit-and-run crash happened at the intersection with Dana Point Harbor Drive.

Troopers said Morales-Pacheco was on his way to school and was waiting for the light to change so he could cross the intersection. He was a student at Niguel Hills Middle School.

However, a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Bradley Gene Funk, also of San Juan Capistrano jumped the onto the curb and slammed into the victim. 

Funk’s vehicle then went over the center median, corrected back onto the road, and continued toward Pacific Coast Highway. Investigators said he did not stop to render aid or call for help.

Morales-Pacheco was rushed at the hospital where he was declared deceased. His older brother is fine and was not hit by the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Funk was rushed into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and some other charges that are going to be related to the collision.
