Luis Mario Cardenas-De La Cruz Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 349 [Midland County, TX]

Midland County, TX (November 8, 2025) — 20-year-old Luis Mario Cardenas-De La Cruz lost his life Thursday afternoon after his bike collided with a truck’s trailer on State Highway 349.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 1 p.m. near East County Road 120.

Reports say that a 2013 Kenworth truck with a trailer was stopped in the center turn lane, preparing to head south on SH 349, when it attempted a left turn. At that moment, a northbound 2008 Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle, operated by Cardenas-De La Cruz of Midland, struck the trailer.

Authorities determined that the truck driver failed to yield the right of way, leading to the deadly collision. Cardenas-De La Cruz, who wore a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.

Officials continue to investigate the incident.
