Mahdi Khorram Dies in Horrific Accident on Highway 4

Caltrans Worker Struck and Killed by Truck on Highway 4 in Martinez

Martinez, CA (September 19, 2025) — 39-year-old Mahdi Khorram, a Caltrans employee, lost his life early Thursday after a truck hit him while he worked along Highway 4 in Contra Costa County.

Reports say that the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. near Cummings Skyway while Khorram was in an active construction zone. An asphalt truck struck him, resulting in fatal injuries.

Authorities identified the victim as Khorram, a construction inspector and transportation engineer with Caltrans’ Concord office.

Khorram had worked with Caltrans since 2023 and is survived by his wife and their young child. Officials and colleagues remembered him as a dedicated public servant who worked to improve road safety across California.
